Made by Zelco Industries, this blacklight operates on 4 AA batteries (not included). This is the same blacklight that is used in portable gem labs used by the GIA and other industry professionals.
We have sold other blacklights and were disappointed when they didn't last long. This is a durable unit. My first one lasted six years.
Many substances fluoresce under blacklight including, amber, tortoise, bakelite and some types of synthetic rubies, to name a few. With this size of blacklight, it is easier to detect repairs in pottery and glass. Modern glues used in furniture fluoresce, antique glue does not. You will find many more uses for this blacklight.
There are cheaper blacklights available, but this is an outstanding value.
